Arda Cankat is active in the firm’s international public law and immigration law practice groups. Mr. Cankat’s international law experience includes jurisdiction immunity and attachment immunity under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act. He also assists non-profit organizations with both management and regulatory matters, including rule compliance for congressional trips. As part of the firm’s immigration practice group, Mr. Cankat assists the attorneys with complex business immigration matters including H-1B and L-1A visa cases and employment-based green card cases.
Prior to joining Saltzman & Evinch, Mr. Cankat worked as a consultant at the Turkish Coalition of America, a non-profit advocating for a strong U.S.-Turkey relationship and Turkish American civic engagement. During law school, he interned at Dentons Paris where he concentrated on large multijurisdictional mergers and acquisitions, and at the Law Firm of Rosalind Lichter, a boutique entertainment law firm in New York City specializing in film law.
Mr. Cankat received his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. in 2019. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2016 from New York University Tisch School of the Arts, majoring in Film and TV production, with a minor in Business of Entertainment, Media and Technology. He is currently pursuing a Master of Laws in Taxation at Georgetown University Law Center, with a focus on international taxation and estate planning.
