Practice Experience

David Saltzman specializes in private and public international law litigation, arbitration, and negotiation, mainly at the federal district and appellate levels. He has assisted several foreign countries in successfully overcoming complex and politically sensitive legal and commercial challenges. He also handles matters involving civil liberties and the rights of individuals to freely speak and write about genuine historical and political controversies.

Saltzman’s experience includes matters involving the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, the Alien Tort Statute, and other federal immunity statutes, the First Amendment, joint ventures and long-term contractual relationships, real estate development and finance, and antitrust. He has handled high-profile cases in the federal courts of the District of Columbia, California, and Minnesota.

From 1991 to 1993, Saltzman was an associate in the Commercial Litigation Group at Chadbourne & Parke, LLP in New York. There, he worked on a wide variety of complex matters, ranging from occupational safety and health to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Saltzman received his Juris Doctor from Washington & Lee University School of Law in 1991. Saltzman conducted his Bachelor’s studies at the College of William & Mary in Virginia and the Université Paul Valéry in Montpellier, France.
